Living your favorite quotes
Updated: Mar 19, 2020
Is it just me, or do we all live on a constant string of clever quotes running on repeat in our minds? Oh, it IS just me? Yeah right! With all the wise words carved out throughout history, it's damn near foolish to not apply them to whatever we're feeling or seeing or thinking in our present day. Ok, no judgement. I understand that some of us don't think too deeply about the words of others, which is fine.
I just think that it can be comforting to know that others have not only walked our same paths, but that they came out stronger and wiser. So... here are some of my faves. Hopefully, they'll once again afford a decent level of insight. 💛 Ok. So, for motivation or focus I like,
"Well done is better than well said."- Benjamin Franklin.
"Leave nothing for tomorrow which can be done today."- George Washington.
I know. I hit ya'll with a couple of Oldies-but-Goodies. But, being old doesn't make them not true, right? I'll tell you what, why don't I stick to a less broad spectrum and focus on a more specific topic. Love. Everyone has experience with this topic, no? Great! Beginnings can be a sweet phase, so a good quote for this is,
"You know you're in love when you can't fall asleep, because reality is finally better than your dreams."- Unknown
Wow! Talk about the feels. Another one is,
"When I am with you, the only place I want to be is closer."- Unknown
Now, most of these don't give an original quoter to cite. I just happened upon them while researching for my stories. But, the words still deserve to be shared. Falling in love is exciting, isn't it? But, it can also be bittersweet. So, what happens when a love crashes and burns? For this unfortunate turn of the heart, I like,
"In the end, I would rather be able to say that I loved too much than not enough."- Unknown
"Hearts can break. Yes, hearts can break. Sometimes, I think it would be better if we died when they do. But, we don't."- Unknown
"When a heart breaks, no, it don't break even."- Danny O'Donoghue
Ok. The last quote was really song lyrics, Breakeven by The Script. So, see? An amazing quote always lends itself to real life feelings, thoughts and actions. Sometimes, I catch myself speaking in Movie Quotes. It's a language believe it or not, one of which I am fluent. It's funny though. Random quotes, when strung together properly, can illustrate quite the tale of love. We took glances at both the beginning and the end of said journey.
Can you imagine all the quotes that could fill in the middle? I can.
Bottomline, how we connect with a good quote, tells us a lot about ourselves. Am I strong? Am I compassionate? Am I reasonable? It can reveal anything from our sense of humor to our core values. So, anyway... find the quotes that best serve and represent you. Live them to the fullest! I'll end this with a quote from one of my upcoming stories.
"The heart's content, only with the heart's consent."- Derek DeSade
For rightful undisputed happiness, you need only to look within. If we can't give ourselves permission, where in the world do we expect to gain it.
